Add or Change Business Classifications
· Note: You cannot delete or update Minority Owned, Woman Owned, and Small Business values, but you can remove or update the other values, and you can add additional values as needed.
(1) Responsibility: Application Developer
(2) Navigation: Lookups > Application Object Library
(3) Query Type = POS_BUSINESS_CLASSIFICATIONS
(4) Click OK to display the existing business classifications
(5) Edit the list to include your new classifications. Deselect the Enabled checkbox to remove any existing classifications. Add a new row to the table to include any new classification.
Define Minority Groups
(1) Responsibility: Payables Manager
(2) Navigation: Setup > Lookup > Purchasing
(3) Search for Supplier Type = MINORITY GROUP

v A disability-owned business is at least 51 percent owned by a person or group of persons with a disability as recognized by the Americans with Disabilities Act or as defined by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Governor's Office, Management Directive 205.25 amended April 15, 1994. In the case of a publicly owned business, at least 51 percent of the stock is owned by one or more persons with disabilities and its management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more individuals with disabilities.
· Small Disadvantaged Business
v A SDB is a small business that meets the SBA's certification requirements and is at least 51 percent unconditionally owned by one or more individuals who are both socially and economically disadvantaged. In the case of a publicly owned business, at least 51 percent of the stock is unconditionally owned by one or more socially and economically disadvantaged individuals and its management and daily business operations are controlled by one or more such individuals as defined under 15 U.S.C. 637(b)(6) in Part 121 of Title 13 of the Code of Regulations.

v A business that has a physical and economic relationship to the City of Detroit. To be eligible for consideration, the business must first document that it has paid taxes to the City of Detroit not less than one year prior to applying for certification. Other qualifying criteria will be applied to qualifying suppliers.
